Hanaa Safwat

Hanaa Safwat is an Egyptian visual artist currently based in the United States. She received her BFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University and her MFA from VCUarts, where she is presently an adjunct professor. Beyond the institutional framework, Safwat remains invested in circulating her work through independent channels, ranging from street display and alternative spaces to self-publishing practices. These modes of dissemination reflect both a critical stance toward traditional art world structures and a pragmatic navigation of art labor, undertaken, of course, when she is not preoccupiشed with the demands of making a living.
