Gabriel Possamai

Gabriel Possamai (b.1996) is a visual artist born in the occupied territories historically inhabited by the Xokleng-Laklãnõ, Kaingang, and Guarani Indigenous peoples in what is modern day Brazil. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná, as well as a Meisterschüler degree from the Hochschule für Bildende Kunst – Städelschule, where he studied under the artists Laure Prouvost and Gerard Byrne. Working primarily with painting, drawing, and installation, Gabriel’s artistic practice is an ongoing investigation into image-making traditions in relation to questions of authenticity and authorship.
