Steeped in identity, self-critique, and storytelling, Riad Kurd (b. 2002) is a Jerusalem-based artist and designer working across illustration, graphic design, and Arabic letterform design. He holds a bachelor’s degree in visual communication. His practice draws on personal research, mythology, and the emotional space where fact meets feeling, with a strong focus on narrative and cultural context. Riad’s digital illustrations retain the texture and expressiveness of traditional media, often simulating materials such as charcoal through careful rendering. Alongside illustration, he maintains a deep engagement with Arabic script, drawn to its structure, rhythm, and cultural weight. His work seeks new ways to experiment with letterforms while remaining grounded in and respectful of traditional methods.
